Maersk Hit by Cyber Attack

Maersk A cyber attack has shut down IT systems across multiple sites and business units owned by Danish transport and logistics major A.P. Moller Maersk, the company confirmed earlier today. APM Terminals is said to be among the hit business units, with 17 terminals being hacked, according to Dutch broadcaster RTV Rijnmond. The terminals in question include two based in Rotterdam. Maersk said it was assessing the situation, putting safety of our employees, our operations and customers business as our top priority. More information on the matter is expected to follow. APM Terminals is yet to reply to World Maritime News seeking comment on the matter. The attack comes in the aftermath of Maersks digitalization moves aimed at “revolutionizing supply-chain management and global trade,” and saving tens of millions of dollars annually with the power of data. To remind, earlier this year Maersk teamed up with American technology company International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) and Microsoft Corp. on digitalization. World Maritime News Staff
