Magellan Spirit Aground off Nigeria zoom LNG tanker Magellan Spirit, owned and managed by Teekay Shipping Glasgow, UK ran aground on January 6th off Nigeria. The vessel is grounded in the Gulf of Guinea area, some 5 nautical miles of Bonny island, Nigeria. The LNG tanker was heading from Bonny to Gwangyang, Korea, indicating that the vessel was loaded. According to Marine Traffics vessel tracking data, the vessel remains grounded at the position. There have been no reports on the extent of the damage or the cause of grounding.
