Majesty of the Seas Dodges Retirement

zoom Miami-based Royal Caribbean International has shelved plans to retire its oldest ship the 1992-built Majesty of the Seas but instead refurbish it and offer new itineraries on the revamped old timer from Port Canaveral starting from 2016. Royal Caribbean had announced in November 2014 that Majesty of the Seas would be transferred out to its sister company Pullmantur in 2016, but the plans had been changed due to popular demand. Before her season in Port Canaveral where she will sail to the Bahamas, Majesty of the Seas will go into drydock for upgrades and receive new onboard amenities. Majesty of the Seas will sail 3- and 4-night cruises to the Bahamas with visits to the cruise line’s private island destination, CocoCay. With Majesty of the Seas’ move, the cruise line is now able to deploy Rhapsody of the Seas – which was announced to sail short Bahamas itineraries from Port Canaveral – to Tampa offering seven-night Western Caribbean cruises in winter 2016.
