Marin Teknikk Secures Well Stimulation Vessel Design Contract
MT6028 is an advanced drillship developed for Top-hole drilling, Subsea Construction and Installation.
The vessel will have a length of 156,6 meters and a breadth of 28 meters, accommodation for 110 persons, drilling rig with lifting capacity for more than 600 tons plus arrangement for operation of 2 ROV’s (remote controlled subsea robots), for operations down to 3000 meters depth.
The vessel is to be built by Yantai Raffles Offshore Limited., in China, and will be ready for delivery 4th quarter 2016. The yard has previous delivered several Semi Submersibles also for Norwegian Ship owners.
Marin Teknikk has been cooperating closely with Norshore to create a functional and safe ship, which also follows up the new generation of environment-friendly, modern and advanced multifunctional drilling vessels.
The design emphasizes the reduced fuel consumption together with latest environmentally diesel electric technology with reduced exhaust emission, and large cargo capacity on deck and high capacity also below deck. The vessel will be built according to Det Norske Veritas class DnV 1A1 – Ship-Shaped Drilling Unit (N).
We are very pleased to sign this contract, states Managing Director of Marin Teknikk Svein Rune Gjerde.
“This is a project we have been working on for a long time, and clearly shows MT’s strong position in the market of advanced drilling vessels. Marin Teknikk has designed several drill ships, with Norshore Atlantic as the latest one, shortly to be delivered from Batam in Indonesia. Norshore Atlantic is a smaller sized vessel than the new MT6028 design, which will be the third drill ship from Marin Teknikk
Marin Teknikk has signed several new contracts recently, and this contract will be a solid contribution to ensure amount of work the coming months. This contract will give us a very good start of the New Year and will secure work activity for 2014 and parts of 2015, Mr. Teknikk Svein Rune Gjerde concluded.
The contract includes an option for three vessels of the same type.
