Military Rescues Seafarer of Royal 16 Kidnapped in November 2016 Shipspotting/Tropic Maritime Images Philippine government troops have rescued one crew member of the Vietnam-flagged bulk carrier Royal 16 who was held in captivity for more than seven months, ReCAAP ISC informed.  While conducting military operations, the troops recovered the seafarer in Sumipsip, Basilan, Philippines. On November 11, 2016, the 5,610 dwt bulker was boarded by ten armed men who abducted six crew members and wounded two. The attack occurred off Sibago Island.
