MOL Precision Hits Berth in Vancouver

zoom The 6,350 TEU container ship MOL Precision has not lived up to its name after hitting a berth while docking at Canadas Port Metro Vancouver yesterday.  The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team of investigators to the port in British Columbia to gather information and assess the occurrence. The extent of the damage to the berth and the vessel is still unknown. There have been no reports of injuries to the crew or pollution so far. Back in March, this 2002-built boxship was detained in Seattle after the US Coast Guard Port Inspectors identified several violations, including defective oil bilge line filtering equipment, missing security training records, and not sending required ballast tank information to the National Ballast Information Clearinghouse prior to entering a US port.
