MOL to Upgrade Its Car Carriers with Fleet Xpress Service MOL Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has decided to introduce the Fleet Xpress service across the majority of its car carrier fleet. Namely, the company signed an agreement for the service with JSAT MOBILE Communications, a partner of satellite communications services provider Inmarsat. With this move, MOL would migrate its car carriers to always-on, high-speed broadband connectivity, continuing its drive towards ‘smarter and greener shipping’ operations. The roll-out of Fleet Xpress on board the MOL fleet will coincide with planned vessel drydockings, with the owner’s car carriers selected for the first installations. According to Gerbrand Schalkwijk, Chief Sales Officer, Inmarsat Maritime, Fleet Xpress is the first global maritime high-speed broadband service from a single network operator.
