MSC Oliver Put through Her Paces zoomMSC Oliver returning from sea trials on March 21, 2015 Second MSC 19.224 TEU leviathan, MSC Oliver, under construction at Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in Okpo, has returned from her sea trials. MSC Oliver is scheduled for delivery in April 2015 followed by the rest of the behemoth family over the coming months. The vessel, the equivalent of four soccer fields when it comes to her size, featuring 395.4 m in length, is able to carry 35% more cargo while reducing CO2 emissions by the same amount. MSC has earmarked a major investment in a fleet of twenty vessels of this size aiming to tap into the potential of the economy of scale. Each of these sea giants is said to be worth around USD 140.5 million. Image: Shipspotting/Lapino
