North Carolina State Ports Dodge Congestion

zoomPort of Wilmington The North Carolina State Ports Authority posted a 20 percent container volume increase in the third quarter of its fiscal year over the same period from last year. A significant increase was seen specifically in the month of March (34 percent increase year-over-year). The Port of Wilmington is on pace to handle the most 20-foot equivalent units in Authoritys history. Ports on the US West Coast, as well as many right here on the US East Coast, are dealing with major congestion, Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Cozza said. Shippers are beginning to look for alternatives. Our lack of congestion and unrivaled customer service make us a viable option for carriers and beneficial cargo owner’s alike. North Carolinas Ports in Wilmington and Morehead City, plus inland terminals in Charlotte and in Greensboro contribute statewide to 76,700 jobs and USD 707 million each year in state and local tax revenues.
