As explained, NSRI Port Elizabeth launched a sea rescue craft to rendezvous with the bulker to evacuate the medically ill 41-year-old seafarer. The 172,600 dwt vessel was at anchor some 3.5 nautical miles from the Port of Port Elizabeth. Upon arrival at the port, the patient was transported to a hospital for further treatment. The Capesize vessel continued its voyage and is currently en route to Singapore, according to the bulkers AIS data. Built at NKK shipyard in Japan in 2001, Cape Orchid is operated by Hong Kongs Fairmont Shipping. World Maritime News Staff
