NSW Port Authority Strikes Deal with MUA, Strike Cancelled

zoomPort Botany The Port Authority of New South Wales has averted industrial action Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) members were planning to take on board pilot cutters operated by the Port Authority from Port Jackson and Port Botany. The strike was announced last week and was scheduled to take place on 28 & 29 April amid failure to bring to a close negotiations over a replacement enterprise agreement. However, as the Port Authority of New South Wales signed an in-principle agreement on Monday, following negotiations with the MUA and the Australian Maritime Officers Union (AMOU) over a replacement Enterprise Agreement for its Sydney workforce which have been ongoing since March 2014, the industrial action plan has been called off. The agreement covers all of the outstanding issues and brings the negotiations to a close, GAC Australia said. As a result, the Port Authority of New South Wales informed that business as usual at the port will take immediate effect.
