One Dead, Four Missing after India Navy Ship Sinks

At least one person died, with four still missing after a torpedo recovery vessel of Indian Navy sank off the city of Visakhapatnam late on Thursday, November 6, the BBC reports. The vessel was engaged in an exercise to recover practice torpedoes, when one of the compartments started taking in water, the navy said in a statement. At the time of the accident 28 sailors were on board the vessel. The remaining 23 personnel were rescued by the search and rescue ships, the spokesman for the Indian Navy said. The sunken TRVA-72 torpedo recovery vessel was built in 1983 by the Shipyard Limited, according to the media reports. World Maritime News Staff
