OSV Ramco Crusader Sinks Off Brazil
On August 12, around 3pm, a fire broke out in the engine room of the Vestland Marine’s vessel Ramco Crusader, which was providing support to drilling operations offshore Brazil, Petrobras informs.
The crew of 15 workers was evacuated to another support vessel and transported to Fortaleza.
Later on, after the crew had been evacuated the vessel went adrift for about 45 km off the coast of Beberibe, where it sank at around 21pm. There were no casualties and no leak was identified.
At the beginning of the emergency, identified as fire onboard the vessel, Petrobras acted in accordance with its emergency plan and mobilized the necessary resources for a quick response.
Support boats have been positioned in the region, specialized teams have also been deployed to monitor the situation and fly-overs are being conducted in the area.
Petrobras is providing full support to Vestland Marine AS to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to put the emergency situation under control.
