PCTC Liberty Joins ARCs Fleet

Shipspotting New Jersey-based carrier American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier (ARC) has added M/V Liberty, a 2006-built pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) to its fleet.  A naming ceremony will be held in the port of Charleston, South Carolina, in June 2017, according to the company. Previously known as M/V Topeka, the 6,350 car equivalent units (CEU) ship was re-flagged to American registry on January 31, 2017. The re-flagging was conducted by the US Coast Guard (USCG) in the port of Bremenhaven, Germany, the firm said. VesselsValues data shows that M/V Liberty was owned by Norway-based RoRo shipping company Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA. Being the eight RoRo vessel in ARCs fleet, the vessel has a length of 200 meters and a beam of 32.2 meters. M/V Liberty is able to carry tracked vehicles, helicopters, trucks and other military and high and heavy project cargoes and will be enrolled in the Maritime Security Program (MSP) and the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA), ARC said.
