Pilbara Ports Sees Record Monthly Volumes

Pilbara Ports Authority Australias Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) has delivered a record total monthly throughput of 58.4 million tons (Mt) for the month of August, an increase of nine percent from the same month in 2015.  The Port of Port Hedland achieved a record monthly throughput of 43.5Mt, representing an increase of nine percent from the previous year. In August 2016, iron ore exports went up 9% from the same month in 2015, totaling 42.8Mt. Imports totaled 103,000 tons, a decrease of 37,000 tons or 26 percent from the previous year. Furthermore, the Port of Dampier delivered a total monthly throughput of 14.8Mt, an increase of ten percent from the same month last year. Imports amounted to 83,000 tons, an increase of 15,000 tons or 21 percent from the previous year.
