Port of Oakland Suspends Dayside Operations zoom A monthly longshore labor meeting, usually scheduled for the third Thursday of the month, second shift, will suspend dayside operations at the Port of Oakland May 1. Waterfront employers in the Pacific Maritime Association have approved the ILWU’s request to move the meeting, which according to some media reports has been moved as a sign of protest to recent cases of police brutality throughout the USA. As a result, there’ll be no vessel, yard or gate operations during the May 1 first shift. Vessel loading and unloading are scheduled to resume with the second shift. The port has notified shippers and harbor truckers of the schedule change.
