Port of Singapore Marks 8th Month of Container Volume Dips

zoom The Port of Singapore, the worlds second busiest port just behind Chinas Port of Shanghai, has marked a 15.8% decline in container volumes in October 2015 compared to the same month a year earlier, according to the preliminary data published by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The port handled 2.497 million TEUs in October 2015, compared to 2.971 million TEUs handled in October 2014. This is the eighth consecutive month of lower container volumes for the port, with the only improvements recorded in the first two months of the year. In the first ten months of 2015, the port handled 26 million TEUs of containerized cargo, a 7.47% decrease compared to 28.1 million TEUs that passed through the port in the same period a year earlier.
