Salvage Tugs Tow MOL Comforts Fore Part toward the Arabian Gulf
The four tug boats that arrived yesterday at the site of the fractured MOL Comfort have started to tow the fore part toward the Arabian Gulf. Towing of the aft part is under preparation.
The MOL Comfort, a MOL operated 7,041 TEU container ship sailing under the Bahamian-flag, broke apart on June 17 during heavy weather about 200 nautical miles from Yemen while en route from Singapore to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
MOL has also informed that there is no oil film around the fore part. However, when it comes to the aft part, there is an oil film, but there is no large volume of oil leakage confirmed.
