Santoku Senpaku Orders Capesize Pair at SWS

SWS Japanese shipowner and operator Santoku Senpaku has ordered two 186,000 dwt bulkers from Chinese Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS). The duo is slated for delivery in 2019, according to Intermodal Research and Valuations. The Japanese shipping company is said to be paying USD 45 million per vessel. As disclosed, the newbuildings will feature a wide beam and meet IMO NOx Tier III requirements. Chinas Tsuneishi Zhoushan shipbuilder is building a third newbuild bulker for the company. The Panamax bulk carrier boasts 81,600 dwt and is slated for delivery later this year, VesselsValue data shows. Santoku Shipping owns and manages 118 vessels, including small capesize bulk carriers, containerships, pure car carriers, wood-chip carriers, reefers, and chemical tankers. World Maritime News Staff
