Scandlines Resumes Ferry Ops after Bomb Threat

Yesterday around noon Scandlines suspended all departures due to a threat. All ferries stopped sailing and were emptied as soon as the police allowed the ferries to return to port, Scandlines spokesperson told World Maritime News. As the exact ferry was not identified by a caller, ships operating on Puttgarden-Rödby and Gedser-Rostock routes were evacuated and searched, Police Department in Lübeck said in a statement. Ferry harbor in Puttgarden was closed and the traffic stopped. After searching ferries in Denmark first, with no suspicious objects found, the Danish police allowed them to return to service. German side also searched vessels and found nothing on board them. Scandlines resumed sailing after a few hours, however departures were irregular until midnight with waiting time, especially in Puttgarden, Germany, Scandlines spokesperson added.
