SCF Khibiny Refloats, Resumes Her Voyage

zoom The Liberia-flagged tanker SCF Khibiny that ran aground at the Bosphorus anchorage on June 18th near Istanbul, Turkey has refloated on her own. The 275 meter-long tanker got rounded while proceeding for operations during her southbound transit, GAC informed. The tanker, owned by Russian shipping company Sovcomflot, refloated using her own power on June 2o and proceeded to the port of Istanbul where she remained anchored over the weekend, SCF Group said Tuesday. There were no injuries reported to the crew or damage to the vessel, SCF said. The 2002-built tanker, loaded with 150,000 tonnes of crude oil, received clearance from port authorities and classification society to resume her voyage to the Port of Pascagoula, USA on Monday. According to the vessel tracking data on Marine Traffic, the tanker left Istanbul and is underway using engine in the Marmara Sea. World Maritime News Staff
