Search for Missing Royal Caribbean Passenger Called Off

zoom The United States Coast Guard has suspended search efforts for a missing 35-year-old man who fell into the water from a Royal Caribbeans cruise ship during a cruise 80 nautical miles northeast of Mayaguana, Bahamas, Saturday. At approximately 1 a.m. on Friday, the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas cruise ship reported a missing 35-year-old male after he fell into the water during a cruise. The cruise ship launched two small boats to begin searching for the male who was last seen wearing a pink shirt and white shorts. Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane and MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrews from Air Station Clearwater, Florida, searched an area covering 931 square nautical miles. We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones and all that have been affected by this tragedy, said Capt. Todd Coggeshall, Coast Guard 7th District chief of response management. Based on the latest vessel tracking data, the 2009-built cruise ship is underway to Labadee, a port located on the northern coast of Haiti. It is a private resort leased to Royal Caribbean International.
