Sembcorp Marines EJA Repairs First Vessel

Sembcorp Marine Brazil-based Estaleiro Jurong (EJA), a subsidiary of Singapores shipbuilding major Sembcorp Marine, has completed its first vessel repair project.  The Olympic Gemini, a bulk carrier operated by Athens-based Springfield Shipping Company, left EJA on May 12 after a week of repairs to its cargo hatch cover and renewal works on the main deck supporting foundations. Built in 2006, the 82,992 dwt vessel features a length of 228.99 meters and a width of 32.26 meters. This is the first project for the yard, specializing in integrated marine and offshore engineering solutions, in the repair business as it diversifies into other fields amid ordering slowdown in the offshore oil and gas industry. Supporting the yards operation is a Brazil-flagged giant floating crane with a lifting capacity of 3,600 tons that is capable of modules integration and heavy lifting operations.
