Star Bulk Takes Last Excel Bulker

zoom Athens-based dry bulk specialist Star Bulk Carriers has completed the acquisition of 34 vessels from Excel Maritime Carriers following the delivery of the M/V Star Jennifer (ex Ore Hansa). The 2006-built, 82,290 dwt Kamsarmax is the last vessel to join Star Bulks fleet under an en bloc transaction announced on August 19, 2014. After the completion of the Excel Vessel Fleet acquisition, Star Bulk has 162,684,541 shares of common stock outstanding. Star Bulk currently owns seventy dry bulk vessels on the water with a total carrying capacity of 7.2 million dwt. In addition, the company is expected to take delivery of twenty eight vessels built at shipyards in Japan and China, including twelve Newcastlemax, seven Capesize and nine Ultramax vessels with expected deliveries in 2015 and 2016.
