Suezmax Crude Carrier Arrested in Singapore

zoom Image Courtesy: Shipspotting Ambassador, a Suezmax crude oil tanker, has been arrested in Singapore waters, according to Supreme Court of Singapores data.  The 153,000 dwt ship, owned by Cyprus-based shipping company Transland Bulk Carriers, was detained for undisclosed reasons in the morning of January 19, 2017. Focal Investigation & Security Agency has been appointed for security and investigation purposes related to the arrest of Ambassador, which flies the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Built by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries in 1997, Ambassador features a length of 269 meters and a width of 49 meters. Market value of the vessel currently stands at USD 8.6 million, VesselsValues data shows. As of January 20, 2017, the tankers AIS data shows it is anchored in Singapore Area. On October 9, 2016, the ship was also arrested in Valetta, Malta, due to unpaid repair and dry dock expenses totaling EUR 6 million (USD 6.4 million), according to information provided by VesselsValue.
