Ternsund Kicks Off Terminal-to-Ship LNG Bunkering Era in Finland Skangas The product tanker Ternsund has been bunkered with liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Skangas LNG terminal in Pori, Finland, as the newly built facility completed its first LNG bunkering operation. The terminal, owned by Gasums subsidiary Skangas, is the countrys first LNG import terminal. It supplies LNG to a gas connection pipeline and offers truck loading as well as terminal-to-ship bunkering operations. “The Skangas terminal in Pori was officially opened three weeks ago. This marks a milestone in our development of the Finnish market. Now we do yet another first when making the first bunkering directly from the terminal,” Tor Morten Osmundsen, CEO at Skangas, said. Owned by Swedish tanker owner Terntank, the Ternsund is the first in a series of four 15,000 dwt chemical tankers with dual-fuel two-stroke engines being built by Chinas Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding. The vessel is operated by Finnish company North European Oil Trade (NEOT), distributing refined oil products from NEOT’s refinery in Gothenburg, Sweden. We’re very satisfied that we now have the opportunity to bunker LNG in Finland right beside one of our terminals. We will run Ternsund both along the Finnish and the Norwegian coast as well as in the Gothenburg area, Satu Mattila, Chartering Manager at NEOT, said. On September 12, 2016, Terntank took delivery of the Ternfjord, the second in a series of four 15,000 dwt chemical tankers. The remaining two newbuilds will be delivered at the end of this year and beginning of 2017, respectively.
