Three Bourbon Crew Members Kidnapped off Nigeria zoomBourbon Surfer speedboat French vessel operator Bourbon confirmed on Monday that three of its crew members of Nigerian nationality have been kidnapped.

The companys crew boat, the Surfer 1440, was boarded off the Nigerian coast in the night of the 8th of April 2015, Bourbon said in a statement. Bourbons Surfers are speedboats used to transport personnel and light parcels to and from offshore oil and gas sites. The company has around 250 surfers in its fleet. An emergency unit based in Nigeria has been immediately activated, the statement added. The companys Nigeria-based affiliate Bourbon Interoil Nigeria is reported to be in contact with the families of the crew updating them on the developments. Bourbon said that it had no more information to disclose at the moment. The company operates in more than 50 countries, providing over 500 vessels to offshore oil and gas industry.
