Three Die from Suffocating on Ship Berthed at Sohar Port

PACDA Three seafarers lost their lives onboard a cargo ship anchored at the Port of Sohar on September 30, Omans Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) informed.  The men, all of them Asian nationals, died from inhaling wood-preserving chemicals inside the unnamed ship, PACDA posted on Facebook. As explained, the seafarers fell inside a storage compartment of the ship and got trapped there. “This was an isolated incident and did not have any further safety or environmental impact on other people onboard the ship, in the port or in the surrounding communities, Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC) told Times of Oman in a statement.
