Traffic at USEC Ports Returned to Normal

Georgia Ports Authority/Stephen B. Morton Following Hurricane Hermine, the US Coast Guard opened all commercial ports on the countrys east coast on September 3, 2016. Last week, the USCG halted maritime traffic at the ports of Charleston, Brunswick, Savannah, coastal South Carolina and coastal Georgia, setting the Port Hurricane Condition. The ports have resumed normal operations. Hurricane Hermine was expected to continue to move northeast and degrade. Vessel and facility operators were advised to exercise caution before entering a storm-damaged area and stay alert for debris or pollution in the water while transiting, USCG said. In a separate announcement, the USCG said that Sector Delaware Bay Captain of the Port (COTP) Zone was returned to Port Condition Seasonal Alert and the ports are now open to all vessel traffic, effective September 5, 2016. Seasonal Alert Port Condition was set in Philadelphia, South Jersey and Delaware.
