UAE: ADT Reaches Milestone at Khalifa Port Container Terminal
On 3rd July 2013, just under a year since commencing operations, Khalifa Port Container Terminal personnel performed 43 Gross Move Per Hour (GMPH) working the 2,289 TEU CSL RIDE operated by Simatech Shipping. A ‘move’ describes a single container (TEU) being loaded or unloaded from a ship.
The news has been hailed by the port’s operators, Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT), as a key indicator of Khalifa Port’s success and as an important milestone in the global port operator’s journey to improve efficiency.
According to ADT management, another key performance indicator, the crane move per hour rate, has also improved by at least 40 percent since the start of port operations in September 2012.
