Uljanik Snatches Order for Two Ro-Ro Vessels

Uljanik Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik has received an order to construct two Ro-Ro vessels, with an option for further four ships, from the Luxembourg-based RoRo specialist Cobelfret RoRo SA (CLdN). Under the contract, signed on March 14, the vessels on order will have a capacity of 5,500 lane meters and will feature a length of 211 meters and a width of 32 meters. The Ro-Ro vessels, which will be able to travel at a speed of over 17 knots, are scheduled for delivery to their owner in 2018, Uljanik said in a stock filing. The new vessels will be designed for transporting wheeled cargoes, such as trucks, cars and semi-trailer trucks. CLdN RoRo SA previously said that it placed firm orders for two 8,000 lane meter RoRo vessels, with a length of 235m, adding that it started an ambitious expansion program which would include orders for up to 12 new vessels. These vessels would include a more flexible and higher stowage factor, an LNG ready class notation and an expected generated additional 70% capacity over the next four years. In September 2015, the company revealed plans to order more RoRo vessels ranging between 4,700 and 8,000 lane meters across various yards in Europe and in the Far East.
