Union Maritime Buys Two Tankers for USD 46 Mn

Offen Group UK owner and operator of chemical tankers Union Maritime has snatched two 52,000 dwt chemical/product tankers for a total of USD 46 million, according to data provided by VesselsValue. The 2009-built CPO Korea and the 2010-built CPO Japan were bought from the Hamburg-based shipping company Offen Group for a price of USD 22.2 million and USD 23.8 million, respectively. The MR2 tankers, which were built at the South Korean Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, will join their new owner at a later date. This latest acquisition follows the companys purchase of an LR1 product tanker Eagle Ray in January 2016. Featuring 75,000 dwt, the 2000-built tanker was bought from the Greek shipping company Prime Tanker Management. Union Maritime, which focuses on clean petroleum products in West Africa, currently owns and operates a fleet of thirty tankers and bulk carriers, built from 1993 to 2012 and ranging up to 75,000 dwt.
