United Kalavryta Offloads Disputed Oil Cargo zoomUnited Kalavryta The oil tanker United Kalavryta, carrying 1 million barrels of Kurdish oil, has unloaded its cargo in Israeli port of Askelon. Apart from United Kalavryta, several other tankers carrying oil for Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), unloaded in the same Israeli port, the Daily Star reports. According to Marine Traffic data, the tanker was in Ashdod on February 22nd. The tanker left Texas at the end of January after six months of idling off Texas coast as the legal dispute over the cargo ownership between Iraq and Kurdistan awaited solution. The United Kalavrvta was prevented from unloading in the USA by a Texas judge in August, who subsequently withdrew seizure of the vessel for lack of jurisdiction. Kurdish leadership has been faced with numerous difficulties in their attempts to sell oil independently as Baghdad claims ownership of the cargo. World Maritime News Staff
