Update: Greek Ports Wrap Up Another Strike

Thessaloniki Port Authority (OLTH) The previously announced 24-hour general strike at Greek ports and terminals, which started at 6:00 yesterday morning, has concluded today, Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) informed. ISS has checked the latest information with its Piraeus office in Greece which confirmed that the strike finished on 4 December at
20:15 and all services are back to normal, ISS said in a statement. During the stoppage period, the ferries and airports service, as well as towage services at Piraeus, Eleusis and Pachi, stevedore in all Greek ports, oil terminals personnel and other services were affected. The strikes are a response to the governments planned changes in labour and insurance rights, the increase in retirement age and the successive reductions in pensions, as well as the privatization of the country’s main ports, namely the Port of Thessaloniki and Piraeus Port. The public and private sector strike action was announced on December 2.
