USCG Calls Off Search for Royal Caribbean Passenger

Royal Caribbean The US Coast Guard had suspended search efforts for a 46-year-old Texas man who fell from the Royal Caribbean Cruises’ cruise ship Navigator of the Seas off the coast of Key Largo, Florida. The missing man, identified as David Mossman, was reported to have fallen from the 10th deck of the cruise ship into the water late Friday evening. The crew aboard the Navigator of the Seas informed the coast guard sector Key West that Mossman fell nearly 100 feet from the cruise ship while the vessel was sailing some 36 nautical miles south of Carysfort Reef Light. Following an urgent marine information broadcast, the coast guard launched the cutter Gannet to the search for Mossman, while a coast guard air station Miami MH-65 helicopter and a HC-144 aircraft assisted in the search operation. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts and an exhaustive search, our crews were unable to locate him, Chris Eddy, search-and-rescue technical specialist at the Coast Guard 7th District, said expressing condolences to Mossmans family and friends. Coast guard search-and-rescue crews covered a total area of 2,583 square nautical miles.
