USCG Medevacs Tanker Crewmember off Louisiana

USCG A Filipino crewmember has been medevaced from the 2004-built oil products tanker Elixir near Southwest Pass, Louisiana, according to data provided by the United States Coast Guard. The Coast Guard’s Eighth District received a report in the afternoon hours of June 24 that the 29-year-old man was experiencing severe abdominal pain. At the time, the 46,874 dwt tanker was sailing some 270 nautical miles from Southwest Pass. The Elixer crew transited closer to Southwest pass where a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew met the vessel and hoisted the patient. The seafarer was transported to West Jefferson Medical Center and was reported to be in stable condition, USCG said. According to AIS data provided by Marine Traffic, the ship, operated by Greece-based Product Shipping and Trading, is currently moored at the US port of Port Arthur.
