VARD Wins USD 70Mn Module Carrier Vessels Order

VARD Norwegian shipbuilder and ship designer Vard Holdings Limited (Vard) has inked a USD 70 million contract for the design and construction of three Modul Carrier Vessels (MCVs) with Kazakhstan-based shipping company Kazmortransflot (KMTF).  The vessels, of VARD 9 28 design, will be operated by KMTF through a consortium led by Blue Water Shipping. The three MCVs, featuring a length of 113 meters and a width of 22 meters, are designed for transport in the Caspian Sea. All three vessels will be built at Vard Braila in Romania. They will be delivered in the period between the third quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018. The MCVs will be delivered in the period between the third quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018. In May this year, Vard secured a USD 300 million contract for the design and construction of 15 MCVs for Dubai-based offshore support vessel company Topaz Energy and Marine (Topaz). The vessels will be operated by Topaz through a consortium led by Blue Water Shipping for the end-client TCO. “We are pleased to welcome Kazmortransflot as a new customer to Vard, and look forward to the cooperation in this exciting project.
