Vietnam to Switch to Low-Sulphur Marine Fuel zoomIllustration Vietnam is about to introduce diesel fuel with 0.25 percent sulphur in its water transport, replacing the fuel oil with high sulphur content. The switch is set to enter into force at the beginning of 2016, the government said. From the start of next year, diesel with 0.25 percent sulphur, mainly used in water transport, will not be allowed, Reuters reports citing a statement from the Vietnamese government. The decision comes within the framework of the countrys efforts at cutting emissions. The government said that the switch will also help curb fraud attempts that saw lower quality fuel being passed off as higher grades. Further details on potential punitive measures have not been disclosed. World Maritime News Staff
