Yemen Turns to DP World for Aden Port Revival

zoom Dubai-headquartered port and terminal operator DP World received a delegation of senior officials from Yemen headed by the countrys Transport Minister Badr Mubarak Ba-Salma this Wednesday to discuss the revival of operations at the government-controlled Port of Aden. A management team from DP World and Jebel Ali FreeZone (JAFZA) will visit Yemen next week to continue the dialogue, review developments in the country and establish areas where assistance can be provided. “We have a close bond with Yemen, with long standing historical and trading ties. It is our honour to offer our advice and expertise in global ports and logistics to contribute to the Government of Yemen’s efforts to rebuild their economy. We are exploring areas where we can help our near neighbours in their initiatives to restore critical marine and trade infrastructure at Aden and look forward to developing our discussions in the immediate future,” Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World, said. The ongoing conflict between a Saudi-led coalition supporting the Yemeni government and Houthi rebels has eroded the countrys transport infrastructure, and has also led to several closures of two of the countrys biggest seaports the Port of Aden and the Port of Hodeidah.
