ABO SHOTEN was established on March 14th, 1959 by acquisition of AKI KAISAN company limited, which was seafood wholesaler, at Onomichi where has developed as distribution center of maritime industry from long long time ago. In September 1961, we built one tanker which is named as Anseimaru at Setoda shipyard and advanced into shipping business. From that time, we are continueing to do ship owning business.

We own and lease mainly bulk carriers and chemical tankers and in 1971 we started ocean-going vessel business.

Now we own variouse kinds of vessels including chemical tanker, MR product tanker, Bulk Carrier (Supramax, Kamsamax, Panamax, Handy size and Post Panamax) and Pure Car Carrier. In addition, our Singapore branch, ABO SINGAPORE, owns chemical tanker. One of the characteristics of our company's business is that we mainly do long-term bare boat chartering.
