ABOUT OUR GROUP

Our beginnings go back to 1985, with the setting up of the group’s very first company, Ceyline Shipping Ltd. Armed with a strong commitment and an inspiration to be the best, the Company was set up with the objective of providing superior shipping agency services to that of the competition.

With the passage of over twenty-five years, the Ceyline group with its unwavering focus on quality has assumed a leadership position in the Sri Lankan shipping industry and also seen a rapid expansion in its portfolio of services offered. These services now include (in addition to the shipping agency) ship crew recruitment and management, ship owning, marine education and training, ship repairs, ship supplies and marine surveys.

CREW RECRUITEMENT

Ceyline Shipping’s formidable crew pool currently consists of approximately 2400 seafarers with nearly 500 on a standby list. Over 1000 crew members are employed at sea at any given time.

We also maintain a crew pool that is ideally suited for employment aboard passenger cruise vessels. These recruits have received extensive training in the hospitality industry and possess the necessary skill set to function well in such an environment.

We follow a well defined and stringent selection procedure which ensures that only the most qualified and best disciplined seafarers are recruited.

The selection procedure consists of a series of interviews conducted by an experienced panel of marine professionals. The interview process guarantees a thorough evaluation of the applicant’s professional competency and trade tests may also be conducted to assess required skills.

Potential seafarers who are in need of training are encouraged to follow professional courses at the Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College now known as the CINEC Maritime Campus, one of the best equipped training facilities in Asia that is conveniently located in close proximity to the capital city of Colombo.
