INTRESCO LTD is a trading name of the group of fully-integrated ship management companies which provide to their clients the full scope of ship management services in accordance with the highest shipping standards.
Our management services comprise, but are not limited to, operating, maintaining, crewing, sale and purchase, financing and trading our fleet worldwide in a safe, efficient and profitable way.
Having a modern fleet of the bulk carriers and dry cargo vessels INTRESCO LTD provides marine transportation services, transporting bulk and general dry cargoes, particularly grain and grain products, steels, fertilisers, petroleum coke and other commodities, along worldwide shipping routes.
Being registered in European Union with the main offices in Malta, Valletta and in Odessa, Ukraine, since year 1997 the company has been acting as a dry bulk and general cargoes operator of a growing fleet of supramax, bulk carriers as well as dry cargo vessels with deadweight of up to 13,000 tonnes.
The company is a member of BIMCO (Baltic International Maritime Council) since 2003.
The name “INTRESCO” (abbreviation from words “International Repair and Shipping Company”) first appeared in the shipping market in 1997 when the company with this name was registered in European Union. At that time the main specialisation of the company was ship repairing and modernisation of different types of vessels followed by their further commercial management.
In December 1998 London office was opened for the purpose of coordination of the company’s shipping and ship repair business. Five months after in order to support Company’s activity in transportation of general cargoes between ports of Black, Azov and Mediterranean seas the Group acquired its first general cargo vessel - shallow-draft single decker “Sagitta”. In August 1999 a branch office in Odessa, Ukraine, was set up as a reply to the growing business of the Company in the sphere of technical management services.
In April 2001 the first bulk carrier - handymax “Selecta”, DWT 44759, 1978 built, was delivered into management of the Company and three years after total number of handysize / handymax type vessels under our management reached six. In June 2006 the first vessel of supramax type - bulk carrier “SANTANA” built by Mitsui in 2001 was passed into Group’s full management.
During summer 2007 Group established its own crewing facility in Odessa, Ukraine.
After years of presence in the UK, the Board of Directors decided to relocate all operations from London to Vienna and from the 1st of November 2013 all functions including ship management and ship investments advising activity were moved from London, United Kingdom, to Vienna, Austria.
A full range of comprehensive ship management services to domestic and international clients is a primary activity of INTRESCO LTD. The Company manages vessels of all categories for various ship owners throughout the world but mainly bulk carriers and general dry cargo vessels.
The ship management services by INTRESCO LTD cover all aspects of vessel performance, focusing on safe and environmentally sound operations, high quality maintenance programs and achieving customer goals. That includes everything from chartering, operation, repairs and dry docking, upgrading, technical maintenance and safety to other peripheral activities such as insurance, P&I and claims handling, quality bunker and lubricants supplying, accounting services which are covered in-house by skilled and trained personnel.

Crew management covers a broad range of activities including the recruitment, selection, placement, training and management of officers and ratings employed on our managed vessels. Travel services and payroll management are also an integral part of a crew management activity.
These services are provided by our in-house crewing company ALKA Crewing Ltd based in Odessa, Ukraine. ALKA is manned by a dedicated staff with many years experience in this facet of the business.
Our crews, both officers and ratings, are sourced exclusively from the Ukraine which has a vast pool of highly skilled and experienced seafarers. We have a detailed database including full information on all our seafarers’ previous employment record together with all their health information.
To this effect we are currently working with an established international Health systems provider to equip all our managed ships with the latest healthcare technology thereby providing our seafarers with up to the minute health assistance and at the same time keeping costs down by avoiding unnecessary delays to the vessel. This system is currently under exclusive trial on our vessels.
At INTRESCO, we place a high value on our crews as they are the people on the spot and it is up to the efficiency and care they take in carrying out their duties that allows us to run our ships safely and cost effectively. We therefore take great care in looking after them and ensuring they have a safe and friendly environment to work in.
Our main offices are located in Valletta, Malta and in Odessa, Ukraine.
Vienna office of INTRESCO is responsible for the commercial, operational and financial management of bulk carriers from handy to handymax size. Valletta office is also in charge for liaising with our European and worldwide partners - Charterers, Bankers, Owners, P&I Clubs and Insurance companies etc.
The professional and highly qualified staff of the Valletta office is headed by Mr Mauro Formentin, the Managing director of INTRESCO GmbH, who has a broad experience in ship management and chartering. Currently Vienna Office has under its management two modern supramax type bulk carriers and the newest one joined fleet in January, 2012
Ukraine Branch Office of INTRESCO LTD is specialised in ship management of bulk carriers of any size and chartering of dry cargo vessels with deadweight of up to 13,000 mts, technical management of different types of vessels, including providing services in accordance with International Safety Management (ISM) Code and The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
The office is staffed by experienced personnel including Captains, Superintendents, Engineers, chartering and operations professionals, in house legal staff and post fixture professionals, all highly qualified and with many years experience. Mr Nikolay Ostapov is a Director of Ukraine Branch Office since the date of its establishment (August 1999), Mr Maksym Khaulin is a Deputy Director responsible for all ship management matters and Mr Anatoliy Yakovenko, the most experienced member of Odessa management team, is a Technical Director / DPA.
