Northstar Maritime S.A.
Experience, dedication and economies of scale have taken the company to new levels of performance in ship management. Northstar Maritime now serves all the major shipping routes across the globe, in both the dry and wet sectors. We manage Handysize, Ultramax, Camsarmax and Capesize vessels, as well as oil tankers from Panamax to VLCC sizes. In fact, Northstar Maritime has a longer history managing tankers than dry bulk vessels. We take pride in being certified with the following ISOs:

ISO 9001:2008 – International specification for a quality management system
ISO 50001:2011 – International specification for an energy management system (EnMS)
Our business operates in a modular fashion to improve efficiency, and our leading position is attributable to the following
Management: A creative and experienced team maintains cost efficient management services, as well as looks into appropriate financing for our vessels
Operations: Day to day operations are overseen by competent ex-captains, the heart of the company
Chartering: We cooperate and maintain trusting relationships with the largest chartering houses.
Technical: Responsible for the technical supervision, maintenance, repairs and dry dockings operations
Crew & Supplies: Ticketing, embarkation and disembarkation as well as supplies are part of our daily operations
Accounting : A system that produces accurate, timely monthly financial statements and allows for optimal monitoring of sales, costs and other trends in the business
Insurance & P&I Clubs: An ever-growing aspect of the maritime world
Sale & Purchase: We strive for return driven acquisitions of vessels and maintaining a fleet profile that is best equipped to optimize trading opportunities.
The company’s beginnings trace back to 1865 and the island of Andros, in the Aegean sea. At that time the owners of the company decided to invest in a dry cargo ship. A strong will and a deep desire to succeed brought a quick expansion to the fleet and by the end of World War II the company was headquartered in London, England and had created a substantial fleet of dry bulkers and tanker vessels, newly built in the finest European and Japanese yards.
In 1976 the company moved its business from London to Athens, Greece and expanded to the fields of cruising and passenger transportation, where a legacy was slowly built under the name Arkadia Lines. This expansion, coupled with a brand new fleet quickly found high profitability and served millions of clients, many of which still remember and speak of the Arkadia Lines ferries.
A further step forward was made in 1998 when the company decided to venture into recruiting and training personnel. A crewing and manning company was founded in Manila, Philippines, for the purpose of training captains, as well as all kinds of crew members, to the highest of standards.
A long term vision and high standards in business ethics and accountability raised a small company with the humblest of beginnings to the pinnacle of the shipping world. Since the 19th century the company has been known in the shipping and energy community as a leader, a staple of consistency and performance decade after decade.
Since its establishment the company has developed significant experience in the sale and purchase department, as more than 120 vessels have been purchased managed and sold.
The latest developments find it operating as Northstar Maritime, having marvelously excelled in good times and triumphantly weathered the storms of what is now a global business.
Northstar Maritime takes pride in calling itself one of the oldest continuously running family businesses in the maritime world, honoring its heritage and proudly looking towards the future.
