Solvang ASA dates back to 1936. From very modest beginnings, the shipping company has now developed into one of the world’s leading transporters of LPG and petrochemical gases. Solvang ASA has its headquarters in Stavanger, with offices in Oslo and the Philippines.

Solvang has a fleet of modern and efficient vessels, all built in the accordance with the most up to date specifications and fitted with new and efficient technology. Perhaps of greater importance than the modern technology is the way in which the vessels are operated – the people onboard. Good seamanship represents the very core of our business, and we place a firm focus on this area in the form of education, working on attitudes and training.

Business areas

The company is involved in three main segments for the transport of LPG and petrochemical gases: 12,000-21,000 cbm semi refrigerated/ethylene ships, 60,000 cbm fully refrigerated LPG ships and 75,000-84,000 cbm LPG fully refrigerated ships.

The technical management of all the ships is taking place in-house at the company’s headquarters in Stavanger. Chartering and operation of the company’s ships is being done at our commercial office in Oslo. In addition, the company has a crew manning office in Manila.

Semi-refrigerated/ethylene carriers
This segment includes semi-refrigerated, ethylene capable ships from 12,000 to 21,000 cbm. We have ten ships in this segment, where four are under construction for delivery in 2019. The ships operate with a mix of spot market, or on various COA and other shorter time charters.

LGC
This segment is defined as fully refrigerated LPG ships of 60,000 cbm. We have a total of nine ships in this segment. Two ships are on long term time charters, while the other seven are fixed on short to medium long time charters.

In addition the company controls one fully refrigerated mid-size LPG carrier of 38,000 cbm that is fixed on a long term time charter.

Panamax and VLGC
This segment consist of seven VLGC, where four is of Panamax size of 75.000-78.700 cbm, one 82.000 cbm and two 84.000 cbm. All ships are on time charters from short, medium to long term.
