Thenamaris (Ships Management) Inc. is a global ship manager of high specification modern ocean-going vessels and provides its services as agents only. The fleet under management currently comprises 62 vessels: oil tankers carrying crude oil and oil products such as gasoline and diesel oil; bulk carriers which transport dry bulk cargoes such as grain, coal and iron ore; and containerships. Thenamaris LNG Inc. manages three 160,000 cbm LNG carriers.

We operate, maintain, crew and trade our principals’ vessels worldwide, in a safe, efficient and profitable manner. We ensure consistently high standards throughout our integrated ship management services, covering the commercial, technical, safety and quality, and crewing aspects of managing a diversified portfolio of vessels.

Recruiting and developing talented seafarers

More than 2,000 seafarers are employed on the vessels managed by Thenamaris, and at any given time over 1,500 seamen are sailing on the managed vessels. The seafarers of these vessels are Greek, Filipino and Bulgarian.

We pride ourselves on achieving high retention rates: for 2012, the figures were 88% for officers and 95% for seafarers overall across the fleet. This notable level of retention is a result of the successful recruitment, training, appointment and scheduling of qualified and capable seamen.

Our marine personnel team and the crewing agencies with which we cooperate are constantly on the look-out for talented seafarers to ensure that all vessels under management are adequately manned according to international regulations and charterers’ requirements. Experienced and skilled operators work around the clock to select and appoint suitable seafarers onboard, as well as to maintain an adequate pool of seamen on leave.
Managing seafarers in Greece, the Philippines and Bulgaria

Ongoing training and development of shipboard personnel is a top priority for Thenamaris. Seafarer seminars take place every year in Athens, Greece, in Manila, Philippines, and in Varna, Bulgaria, and we hold onboard training sessions throughout the year in collaboration with our technical and safety and quality teams.

Thenamaris’ seafaring agent in Manila, Thenamaris Philippines, supports the recruitment, scheduling and training of Filipino seafarers. Thenamaris also has a seafaring representative on the ground in Bulgaria, who assists in the marine personnel management of Bulgarian seafarers.
