Transimpex

The company has been estabilished in 1967 after the merger of two state companies - Balkantrans and Expresstrans. During its 35 years history Transimpex succeeded to position itself as a leading company in Bulgaria in the field of:

- Consumer products - with its 30 shops, half of which are duty and tax free border, sea port, river port and diplomatic shops, Transimpex is the biggest duty free operator in the country and also one of the biggest importers, distributors and retailers for Bulgaria – more than 8000 articles of perfumery, cosmetics, apparel, accessories, gift items, ties, sports goods, alcohol, cigarettes, etc. are on our stocklists.

- Machines, equipment, spare parts – Transimpex is the main supplier of the Bulgarian railways, exporter also of railway cars, equipment and spare parts, leading importer of city public transport and machines, equipment and spares for the coal producing plants and the thermal power plants.

- Maritime activities - ship supplying, bunkering and manning of ships – Transimpex is the only Bulgarian ship supplier with its own 1600 mt bunkering vessels and possiblity for supply of fuel and lubricants to any point within the Bulgarian territorial waters; a longterm agent of Mobil and BP; member of the International Ship Suppliers Association (ISSA), the Bulgarian Ship Supplier Association (BSSA), the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), an ISO 9001:2000 certificate holder.

At the end of 2001 and beginning of 2002 the company was privatised and currently a mere of 5 % of the shares are state-owned.

At present Transimpex avails with 40.000 sq.m lands, over 13.000 sq.m of offices, shops and other buildings, more than 19000 sq.m warehouses (including 1500 sq.m bonded warehouses), substantial fleet of cars, trucks and sea vessels, own hotel and restaurant.

More than 450 highly qualified employees in the main office in Sofia and in the branches throughout the country – Varna, Burgas, Ruse, Vidin, Lom, etc., contribute to the excellent performance of the company. The expected turnover for 2003 is more than EUR 20 mln, which would approximately double the results from the previous year.
