Triton Schiffahrts GmbH was established in 1994 in the city of Leer, which is one of Germany's key shipping communities. As of the year 2000, Triton is a 100% subsidiary of Seatrade Holding B.V., a Groningen (The Netherlands) based shipping company.

Triton is a leading professional shipmanager for refrigerated and container vessels, tankers and bulkers. Presently, Triton has 33 vessels in full management and 34 vessel in crew management.

This triple-S policy is supported by the Seatrade Standard, a six rule manifest that helps all of us at sea and ashore to have a better understanding of the actions we take every day and how they influence the world, our company, our surroundings and our safety. Triton is part of the Seatrade Shipmanagement Group. The Group is renowned as a leading ship manager. A reefer vessel specialist of origin, over the years we started to operate various other types of ships such as tankers, bulkers, ro-ro vessels, container vessels and yachts. We are responsible for well over one hundred ships worldwide, many directly owned by Seatrade, and others by third parties. Furthermore, we offer global crew management services and are a reliable partner in the supervision of newbuilding and conversion of vessels.
