Job Description

· Daily supervising of the Fleet of owned bulk carriers, to protect the Company’s interests in all related matters.

· Handle all vessel and cargo operations, and post fixture matters on voyages from fixture to completion of the charter.

· Manage all loading and discharging operations for both cargo and vessel to ensure best possible turnaround,

· Monitor stow plans etc to ensure maximum cargo lift on each vessel.

· Handling all necessary port requirements.

· Daily monitoring of voyage and vessel performance at sea and in port including speed/consumptions.

· Ensuring the vessel’s compliance with the Charter Party

· Instructing masters and issuing voyage orders,

· Ensuring all correspondence between owners, charterers and vessels managers are passed on correctly and dealt with promptly

· Handling all owners matters where appropriate in order to ensure a smooth voyage etc.

· Implementing Company procedures

· Checking documentation including Bills of Lading, Letter of indemnities etc

· Owners accounting, managing voyage expenses/disbursement accounts

· Preparing Budgets

· Invoicing for hire / freight, preparing hire statements

· Laytime calculations

· Handling claims and Charter party disputes/discrepancies and speed/consumption claims etc, dealing with insurance companies and P and I clubs

· Chase up outstanding hire / demurrage and other balances and debts

· dealing with port agents and bunker suppliers

· Liaising with local authorities,

· Monitor actions of technical managers etc ensuring minimal off hires and ensuring costs are within budgets etc.

· Handling all necessary paper works including vessel certificates, and any documentation to ensure the smooth running of the vessel

Skills

• a minimum of 5 years’ experience in dry bulk-carrier vessel operations
• proficiency in all aspects of both voyage and time charter vessel operations at sea and in port
• Experience in handling claims and Charter party disputes /discrepancies and performance claims etc
• a thorough understanding of Charter party terms and commercial awareness
• strong computer skills with the ability to develop and put in place all necessary systems to ensure the smooth running of the department as its work load increases.
• Experience in Shipping Accounting, Budgets, managing voyage expenses/disbursement accounts/hire statements/final voyage analysis
• Some Ocean going and/or technical experience would be of benefit. Location: Europe (EU)
