Description
The Credentialing Exam Writer is responsible to develop, document and edit Examination questions for the Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Engineer Credentialing Examination Program. The qualified candidate will use their broad subject matter expertise to develop knowledge examination questions related to all levels of Merchant Marine Engineer Credentials, Rating and Officer.
◾Conduct periodic documentation reviews to insure accuracy and for continuous improvement opportunities
◾Analyze system enhancements for operational functionality and update documents accordingly
◾Collaborate with the graphic artist to create effective illustrations for course documentation
◾Engage various tools to achieve a high standard of visualization
◾Work with the Coast Guard Mission Management System to ensure documentation is available, correct and up to date
◾Create Merchant Mariner knowledge examination questions suitable to meet the standards of 46CFR11 and 12 and IAW NMC MMS Documentation for government review and approval.
◾Interface with and enter questions into the government examination software
◾Expected to prepare 50 government approved engine-related exam questions on a monthly basis
Position Requirements
Minimum requirements:
◾U.S. Merchant Mariner Engineer Credential, 2nd Assistant Engineer or higher
◾Must hold or have held a Merchant Marine Credential Endorsed as a Second Engineer of unlimited Horsepower with at least 5 years of sailing experience under the authority of that credential
◾U.S. Citizen
◾Computer skills required; familiar with MS Office suite
◾Instructional design experience a plus
◾Experience with course/technical content development
Preferred experience:
◾Training course development skills
◾Broad spectrum understanding of skills required to obtain U.S. Merchant Mariner Engineer Credential (Officer and Rating)
◾Ability to work in a team environment and works well with others
◾Strong analytical, writing and research skills
◾Can readily adapt to changing environment
◾Can manage individual workflow effectively and recommend process improvements as necessary
◾Positive attitude focused on customer satisfaction
