Ensuring all new engineering officers and ratings are familiar with relevant procedures
Plan and effect an efficient engine room duty rotation
Maintenance and operation of all machinery, and surface maintenance in the engine room
Issue such standing orders and write procedures as necessary to maintain and operate equipment for key shipboard operations as required by the International Safety Management Code
Use, maintenance, update and training of the planned maintenance and spare parts system
Plan and manage fire exercises in machinery spaces in co-operation with the Master
Ensure oil record book and engine room log book are accurate and up to date
Requisition and purchase of spares and consumables to own department according to budget
Other duties as required by the Master including implementation of the company’s safety and environmental policy, motivation of the crew in observation of that policy and issue appropriate orders and instructions in a clear and simple manner Location: Worldwide
